A New Wave of PV Boom Has Arrived! Seven Major Projects Kick Off in Rapid Succession, Totaling 1.6 GW!

Recently, the photovoltaic (PV) industry has witnessed a wave of intensive project launches. Within 15 days, 7 projects have commenced construction, with a total installed capacity of 1.597GW and a known investment scale exceeding 4 billion yuan.


Overall, these newly launched projects exhibit three distinct characteristics:
 
First, the "PV+" integration model is accelerating implementation, with continuously expanding application scenarios. These include 267MW fishery-solar complementary projects, 80MW orchard-solar complementary projects, 100MW mine restoration projects, and 900MW "solar thermal + photovoltaic" integrated projects.
 
Second, the projects are widely distributed geographically, covering six provinces and regions: Zhejiang, Guizhou, Guangxi, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Shanxi. Large-scale projects are developed in regions with strong solar radiation and land advantages such as Tibet and Inner Mongolia, while fishery-solar complementary PV projects are deployed in southeast coastal areas like Zhejiang, leveraging geographical advantages to promote the integrated development of green energy and ecological economy.
 
Third, the projects feature large single-unit scale and high investment intensity. A notable example is the 100MW solar thermal + 800MW photovoltaic integrated project in Damxung County, with a total investment of 3.744 billion yuan.
 
Construction Begins on 100MWp Smart Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Project in Zhejiang
 
On May 8, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tanyue Haining Hengshan 100MWp Smart Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Project was held.
 
The project is developed by Haining Yueyu Hai New Energy Co., Ltd. and is located in Haining City, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.
 
The project leases 1,260 mu of ponds and gardens to install photovoltaic panels, forming a model of "power generation on top, planting and breeding below". It also adds 11,438 square meters of construction land to build a supporting 110kV booster station and an operation management center. With a total investment of 350 million yuan, the installed capacity of the PV area is 100MWp (the project's approval document is the Tanyue Haining Hengshan 100MWp Smart Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Project. According to the draft notice on regulating PV project deployment in fishery waters issued by the Bureau of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the PV panel coverage rate for fishery-solar complementary projects shall not exceed 40%, so the actual installed capacity of the PV area is 87.05088MWp). The project is expected to generate an average annual power output of 87.6567 million kWh.
 
Construction Starts on 150MW PV Power Station in Guizhou
 
On May 6, the EPC general contracting project for the Wangmo County Zhexiang PV Power Station, undertaken by a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group, officially broke ground.
 
Located in Wangmo County, Qianxinan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, the project has a planned capacity of 150MW and is scheduled to achieve full-capacity grid connection by the end of 2026. Upon completion and operation, it will generate an average annual power output of 136 million kWh, saving about 40,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 110,000 tons annually.
 
Construction Commences on 100MW PV Project in Guangxi
 
On May 2, the 100MW PV project for mine restoration in Danzhu, Pingnan, Guangxi, started construction.
 
Located in Danzhu Town, Pingnan County, Guigang City, Guangxi, the project covers an area of about 151.39 hectares and is planned and constructed on the site of a local abandoned mine, with an installed capacity of 100MW. A total of 26 sub-arrays are set up in the PV area, and monocrystalline silicon PV modules of two specifications, 715Wp and 610Wp, are planned to be installed.
 
Upon completion, the project will generate about 140 million kWh of electricity annually. It will not only revitalize the local abandoned mine land, restore the mining area's ecology, and improve the regional environment, but also optimize the power structure of the system, injecting new green momentum into local economic and social development.
 
Construction Begins on 800MW PV Project in Tibet
 
On April 29, the 100MW solar thermal + 800MW photovoltaic integrated project in Damxung County, invested and constructed by China Energy Engineering Investment Corporation, officially broke ground in Tibet.
 
Located in Wumatang Township, Damxung County, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, the project site is at an altitude of 4,541 meters, making it one of the highest-altitude solar thermal power stations in the world. The PV part will adopt a "pasture-solar complementary" development model, realizing three-dimensional compatibility between photovoltaic power generation and ecological animal husbandry, and dual empowerment of ecological and industrial benefits.
 
With a total investment of about 3.744 billion yuan, the project is planned to be fully operational by 2030. Upon completion, it will produce 1.56 billion kWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to saving about 469,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.2512 million tons. It will effectively optimize the regional energy structure, support the autonomous region's green and low-carbon transformation and high-quality development, and inject strong impetus into the realization of the national "dual carbon" goals.
 
Construction Starts on 167MW Fishery-Solar Complementary PV Project in Zhejiang
 
On April 29, the 167MW fishery-solar complementary PV project (Phase I) of Three Gorges Group Zhejiang Branch in Yuyao Hangzhou Bay officially broke ground.
 
Located in Yuyao City, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, the project is the first large-scale application of flexible support technology in fishery-solar complementary PV projects in Zhejiang Province. It can not only increase the installed capacity and power generation efficiency of photovoltaic power generation, but also completely avoid the interference of PV facility construction on underwater aquaculture, truly realizing a benign pattern of "one land for two uses, no mutual interference, and dual income increase" with efficient photovoltaic power generation on the panels and healthy ecological aquaculture underwater.
 
Upon grid connection and operation, the project will simultaneously release clean energy power generation benefits and ecological environmental protection benefits. It is expected to generate an average annual power output of about 240 million kWh, saving about 66,700 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 174,000 tons annually.
 
Construction Begins on 200MW PV Project in Inner Mongolia
 
On April 28, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 200MW industrial and commercial PV project in Chuo Le Chuan Dairy Development Zone, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, was held.
 
Invested and constructed by Zhongguan Madison (Hohhot) New Energy Co., Ltd., the project has a total installed capacity of 200MW, mainly deployed on the roofs of enterprises and idle spaces within the development zone. Adopting the model of "self-generation and self-use, on-site consumption", all generated electricity will be supplied to enterprises. The currently launched Phase I project has a capacity of 5.99MW. Upon completion and operation, it will further optimize the energy structure of the development zone, increase the proportion of green power use, effectively reduce enterprises' electricity costs, and provide strong support for enterprises to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and achieve green development.
 
Construction Commences on 80MW PV Project in Shanxi
 
On April 28, the 80MW composite photovoltaic power generation project of China Coal Liulin, undertaken by Guiyang Institute of Power Construction Corporation of China, officially broke ground, marking the project's entry into the full construction phase.
 
Located in Gaojiagou Township and Sanjiao Town, Lvliang City, Shanxi Province, the project has a planned total capacity of 80MW, covering an area of about 2,818 mu, and is equipped with a 220kV booster station and outgoing lines. The project innovatively adopts an "orchard-solar complementary" model, making full use of the shading effect of PV panels to retain water and moisture in orchards, effectively improving the microclimate of orchards, reducing the harm of extreme weather to fruit trees, and creating excellent conditions suitable for fruit tree growth.
 
Upon full-capacity operation, the project is expected to transmit about 148 million kWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to saving about 44,600 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 121,100 tons each year.
